Inglorious Fruits and Veggies

The other day as I was wandering around the interwebs, I found this interesting new craze coming from France known as the “inglorious fruits.” A program dedicated to finding a way to keep people from throwing away fruits that are still good, but not quite as pretty. This is ingenious! Take a look at the video and let me know if you think this would work in America, what you would want to change and more ! Thanks to for helping me find the original video!

Graze Box Review!

When I ordered my latest Kate Spade book from Barnes and Noble, they sent me a coupon for a free Graze box, so I thought… why not? So I signed up, thinking this would be a one time deal, I would get the free box and then cancel. Well, I hate to say it but knew what they were doing when they created this box. I absolutely LOVE it. For $6 dollars a box they will sent you four snacks to pick from. You can choose from two box types (regular and one lower calories) and you can have them every 2 weeks or every week!

Unfortunately, I deleted all the photos that I originally took of my first Graze box, but my four snacks that I received were delicious!

The first one I tried was the pomodoro rustichella, which is a mix that contains tomato breadsticks, cheesy croutons and tomato, basil and oregano almonds! YUM. This was quite possibly my favorite out of all of them. Then I took the Strawberry Shortcake snack to work and enjoyed this as well. This item contains pistachio kernels, dried strawberries, yogurt drops and sponge drops. My next favorite was the Summer Berry Flapjack which contained two oat bars that had berries in it. DELICIOUS! My fourth and last snack for this box was called Booster Seeds and had pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds.

I am not really a seeds person, so this was not my favorite, but the great thing about the website is that it allows you to rate every snack sent so they know what to not send!I also have a great opportunity for all of YOU to receive your first and fifth box free! Use this link: and the code will already be put in! 🙂 Enjoy!

A Simple Summer Salad

My obsession  with getting healthy may have taken a pause while I finished up this semester, but now that I am at home there is no reason to not be healthy! Today for lunch, I decided to make a big salad to quench my hunger and help my body!

To recreate this salad you will need:

Makes One (large) Serving

1 c. Baby Spinach

1 Tablespoon Dressing (your choice, I chose Gardini’s Asian Sesame)

2-3 sweet peppers cut to your choice

1/2 celery stalk

handful cherry tomatoes cut in half

To start with, take your bowl and put in your washed and dried spinach. I used a baby spinach that was pre-washed. IMG_7014

Then chop up your veggies as desired and cheese if you wish ( I LOVE cheese)IMG_9342, and mix together in your bowl. Then add dressing and eat! So SIMPLE and EASY.   IMG_3737 copy Enjoy!

Operation Health Code: updates

Remember when I said my goal was to become a healthier person all around? Here is an update.

I suppose when you think of becoming healthy, you would think of exercise and food only right? Well, My operation health code consists of more than that. It’s of my emotional, mental and physical health. I have become such a happy person in the last few months through learning and growing. Now, a college campus cafeteria can only do so much for you when it comes to eating healthy. I actually have had an experience with being dehydrated and that is not enjoyable. Therefore, lately, I have been drinking water like it is my job. Which has actually not only helped me stay hydrated, but helped my skin stay clear and lovely, given me energy and kept me away from sugary drinks such as soda! (WHAT?! You live in Michigan and you say SODA?!, Yes, Yes I do :])  Now, not only have I been chugging water, I have also been making sure I am getting enough sleep and rest. Which also helps my skin, and keeping my eyes bright. As far as food go, veggies have ALWAYS been a staple in my life. I try to eat a spinach salad everyday from our salad bar in my cafeteria, which includes:

  • spinach
  • shredded cheese (not too much)
  • kidney or pinto beans
  • cherry tomatoes
  • baby corn
  • peas
  • carrots (if shredded)
  • red peppers
  • cashews or walnuts (not super healthy, but they have protein!)

Going on with the topic of food, I make sure my body gets enough food. If I am hungry, I eat. Especially breakfast! I try to make it downstairs to have Yo-plait strawberry yogurt with Nature Valley Brand granola or a banana! Breakfast is so unbelievably important and I never used to eat it in high school! Now I know that whenever I have time to eat during the day, I am going to eat.

Lately, I’ve  been wanting clear and healthy skin. I have been to my dermatologist to help me create a routine that works for me personally (therefore I can not tell you what will work for you!) I use my acne medicine, along with face wash from Cetaphil (mine is the purple!), then I also use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, which has truly worked wonders for my face.

Working out has never been something that was a MUST DO on my agenda and no matter how hard I try, I can’t keep a routine. Instead, I find myself more willing to walk all over campus whenever I can! Which counts, right? Not only that, but I also do Yoga once a week with a new friend from my hall. I can not describe to you how amazing yoga is. It helps with posture, relaxing, balance and more! I definitely suggest you try it out and look for yoga classes in your area! If you’re on a college campus, I bet you have some for free! Take advantage of the free things while you can!

So that is my update for now, if you enjoy a certain exercise or food or anything health related make sure to comment below!

A million miles a minute

Wow, What an alliteration! Hello my lovely readers, I am back from my semi-long hiatus in the wilderness (the beach) of my state. I spent my time hunting (buying pizza), fishing (seeing fish in the lake), and reading (I actually read). I have many stories from the last few weeks, but I will get to that later. I feel like my mind has been racing a million miles a minute and however long I try to relax, I can’t seem to do it.

I actually started packing to move into my dorm last night, gathering boxes, opening boxes, finding little knickknacks to put on my desk. I emailed my roommate, hopefully she responds. I move in on the twenty fifth of this month, which is so close! Yet, so far away.

While awaiting the news of who my roomie was for the upcoming year, I went up north on two separate trips (woohoo!) First, I went up north with my family and a couple friends and it was so cold! The best part was the last half of the week, well actually the last two days of the trip. Then I came home, and had FOOD POISONING from McDonald’s. Of Course.

My second trip was my girls’ weekend up north with about 7 of my good friends. We had some troubles but all in all everything was so fun.

Now I am back to you all. Trying to come up with inspirational posts and such, thinking about the upcoming weeks and writing to all of you. If you want anything specific comment below! mwah!
